These books range from translated stories from other countries to adventues set in far-flung places. It also offered Luke Pearson the chance to have Hilda, who in the first story is clearly already familiar with the Wilderness, be put in an environment new to her. The characters behave very different in these books than they do elsewhere, they are often very out of character and even more surprising, routinely abusive or aggressive towards other characters/their friends/family. Even though she interacts with her classmates and fellow scouts, she mostly keeps to herself, preferring to explore and make friends with fantastical creatures.

In July 2013, Hilda and the Midnight Giant was featured in The Best 7 Books for Young Readers list released by Deutschlandfunk, the German public radio. At Books2Door, we believe that reading is a fundamental skill that every child should have to help improve their vocabulary, grammar, and critical thinking skills. This formed the first real starting point for the graphic novel series, and it was with this drawing that Pearon approached Nobrow when he was asked for an idea for a comic for their 17x23 series. From Hildafolk ( Hilda and the Troll) to Hilda and the Mountain King, which is now a movie, this entire original run is both written and drawn by Luke Pearson.

These Hilda chapter books expand on the eleven-year-old's adventures in the TV show, as Hilda travels from her home in a vast magical wilderness to a bustling city packed with new friends and mysterious creatures. Dive into the adventure with this illustrated chapter book, based on the first two episodes of the show.

They would also only drop off a case of books and leave us to run it – it was so lovely to have you on hand to chat to the children and recommend them books, as well as the small (but appreciated! Hilda and the Troll is a book you'll want to read settled in front of the fireplace with a mug of hot chocolate, preferably while it's raining outside. This means entering the Rock Forest, where Hilda will come across some amazing and magical creatures. If you’re caught up with the Hilda graphic novels and cannot wait for the next instalment, you can get your fix with the illustrated novels. Each book adapts multiple episodes of the animated series into a single story, while also adding more worldbuilding to the universe of Hilda (like naming characters and places that are nameless in the animated series).
