They differ to router / trirmmers in that the straight cut does not have to start from the edge of the material. I should start this off by saying this was my first router, so I dont have anything to compare it to. The safety features of this wood router and its great ease of use enable you to work in a position that is not tiring even when using the tool intensively. This isn't aided by the fact that the manual includes instructions for the next model up, which DOES have adjustments available without these shenanigans.

Nice feel to it and has some safety features which assist in preventing flying wood from flying into face etc. Change country: -Select- Afghanistan Albania Algeria American Samoa Andorra Angola Anguilla Antigua and Barbuda Argentina Armenia Aruba Australia Austria Azerbaijan Republic Bahamas Bahrain Bangladesh Barbados Belarus Belgium Belize Benin Bermuda Bhutan Bolivia Bosnia and Herzegovina Botswana British Virgin Islands Brunei Darussalam Bulgaria Burkina Faso Burundi Cambodia Cameroon Canada Cape Verde Islands Cayman Islands Central African Republic Chad China Comoros Cook Islands Costa Rica Cyprus Czech Republic Côte d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast) Democratic Republic of the Congo Denmark Djibouti Dominica Dominican Republic Ecuador Egypt El Salvador Equatorial Guinea Eritrea Estonia Ethiopia Falkland Islands (Islas Malvinas) Fiji Finland France French Polynesia Gabon Republic Gambia Georgia Germany Ghana Gibraltar Greece Greenland Grenada Guadeloupe Guam Guatemala Guernsey Guinea Guinea-Bissau Guyana Haiti Honduras Hong Kong Hungary Iceland Indonesia Iraq Ireland Italy Jamaica Japan Jersey Jordan Kazakhstan Kenya Kiribati Kuwait Kyrgyzstan Laos Latvia Lebanon Lesotho Liberia Libya Liechtenstein Lithuania Luxembourg Macau Macedonia Madagascar Malawi Malaysia Maldives Mali Malta Marshall Islands Martinique Mauritania Mauritius Mayotte Mexico Micronesia Moldova Monaco Mongolia Montenegro Montserrat Morocco Mozambique Namibia Nauru Nepal Netherlands Netherlands Antilles New Caledonia New Zealand Nicaragua Niger Nigeria Niue Norway Oman Palau Panama Papua New Guinea Paraguay Philippines Poland Portugal Puerto Rico Qatar Republic of Croatia Republic of the Congo Reunion Romania Rwanda Saint Helena Saint Kitts-Nevis Saint Lucia Saint Pierre and Miquelon Saint Vincent and the Grenadines San Marino Saudi Arabia Senegal Serbia Seychelles Sierra Leone Singapore Slovakia Slovenia Solomon Islands Somalia South Africa South Korea Spain Sri Lanka Suriname Svalbard and Jan Mayen Swaziland Sweden Switzerland Taiwan Tajikistan Tanzania Thailand Togo Tonga Trinidad and Tobago Tunisia Turkmenistan Turks and Caicos Islands Tuvalu Uganda United Arab Emirates United Kingdom United States Uruguay Uzbekistan Vanuatu Vatican City State Venezuela Vietnam Virgin Islands (U.I suppose the first thing to say is that if I was considering this product for professional trade I'd spend the extra and go for a 'professional' router with fine adjustment capabilities and proven longevity etc. The angled handles are much more comfortable in use than the usual upright handles on other machines and there is a good safety switch sytem on these handles to power up the motor, nice. Then, using a spanner in a confined space, you need to loosen/tighten the bit, similar to the way you would a drill. To choose between plunge routers: The key difference between plunge routers is the choice of collet which not only determines the shank size of the router cutter, it also determines the depth of cut. I almost forgot, whilst using it I 'could actually see the blade and cutting edge because there a two LED lights either side of the collet!

I too thought about some kind of lift but I use the table so infrequently that I just nudge it up or down to the correct height. Keeping a close eye on the job is simple thanks to an integrated work light and adapter for vacuum cleaner attachments enabling precise results. Investigating the tool, I realized that, when pressing on the right hand side handle, it has a bit of downward movement, while the left one doesn’t. It offers an idle speed ranging from 11,000 to 28,000 RPM, providing flexibility for various applications. Ideal for cutting grooves for wood joints or edge profiles, but also performing demanding routing work, such as producing special mouldings in many types of wood.

In the end I set it up by eye and did a few test cuts before using it freehand on the panel I needed to rout out.
