I am happy to report that Love Thy Neighbour is every bit as good, if not better, than I remembered.

The embarrassingly racist comments of the day on both sides were hilariously near the knuckle in those days and aren't spoken these days This wonderfully wicked set of clichés brings back fond memories of its protagonists and is a delight to own, even if it is just to embarrass my grandchildren! If you can get your head around the fact that these were different times with different views and ideas (which were the norm back then) then you'll find a comedy gem here with great performances from all involved. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.

Eddie Booth (Jack Smethurst), a white, working-class socialist is dismayed when Bill (Rudolph Walker), a black, educated Conservative moves in next door with his wife Barbie (Nina Baden-Semper). Keep in mind that anyone can view public collections - they may also appear in recommendations and other places. So, these comedies, in my view, aren't "racist", but rather portray ignorant white characters who are gotten the better of because of their racism and ignorance. Contrary to what some people may think, Love Thy Neighbour actually sees Eddie Booth's character being bested by a far smarter, level headed and sensible black neighbour, Bill Reynolds, played by the superb Rudolph Walker. In this 1973 movie the happy family hilarity comes to a head when they enter the local 'Love Thy Neighbour' competition. If you are in Australia or New Zealand (DVD Region 4), note that almost all DVDs distributed in the UK by the BBC and 2entertain are encoded for both Region 2 and Region 4.

The storyline revolves around racist bigot Eddie Booth (Jack Smethurst) who is constantly making comments about people of different races in a derogatory manner. Eddie Booth (Jack Smethurst) hates his implacable Jamaican neighbours, but when the two families get a chance to win some money in a ‘Love Thy Neighbour’ competition, they pretend to bury the hatchet. This particular release has been discontinued, however you may still be able to find second-hand copies. he proved this by applying this to the word "paper" saying after a coupla weeks we'd see it as a swear word!Lots of witty stories showing up how stupid prejudices are, prejudices of politics, race and with flitterings of seriousness for instance showing womens lack of rights. Its comic spin on racism, politics and general childish antagonism was loved by millions and remains a firm favourite to this day.

Series 5 episodes are: 'Reggie', 'Jacko's Wedding', 'Duel at Dawn', 'The Darts' Final', 'Royal Blood', 'Club Concert' and 'The Nannies'. Eddie Booth ( Jack Smethurst), a white, working-class socialist is dismayed when Bill ( Rudolph Walker), a black, educated Conservative moves in next door with his wife Barbie ( Nina Baden-Semper). We will publish your review of Love Thy Neighbour: The Complete Series on DVD within a few days as long as it meets our guidelines. Viewing this series with modern sensibilities can make for a bit of a culture shock and I found myself wincing a little, shocked at the racist epithets casually spoken by the white protagonist, Eddie Booth. A television comedy which centres around the relationship between two neighbours, as they attempt to live and work together, and their long suffering wives.

All episodes are presented complete and uncut and have been remastered from the best available materials. Not really the "complete" collection as there were 8 seasons made but this DVD set only has 7 seasons.
